Safety Guidelines for Covid-19

We all want to stay safe, and to do that we need to work together.

We ask Hosts to:

​

  • Take temperature for all household members at the beginning of each booking session. Cancel session if fever is over 100.5° F for any member of the household

  • Confirm no known exposure to COVID-19 

  • Confirm all household members have been symptom free for a minimum of 14 days prior to your scheduled booking session

  • Confirm no household member has traveled outside the U.S. for a minimum of 14 days

  • Thoroughly clean the kitchen prior to the Cook’s arrival – wipe down all counters, appliances and faucet handles with disinfectant

  • Have cleaning supplies readily available on the kitchen counter for Cooks to use

  • Maintain social distance (minimum of 6 feet) from the Cook during the booking session

  • Wear a face mask when interacting with the Cook

  • Have all ingredients and serveware readily available on the counter for the Cook to access

  • If you feel the Cook is not following these guidelines, cancel the booking

We ask Cooks to:

  • Take temperature at the before each booking session. Cancel session if fever is over 100.5° F .  

  • Confirm symptom free for a minimum of 14 days prior to your scheduled booking session

  • Confirm no known exposure to COVID-19

  • Practice the following hygiene practices:

    • Wear PPE (“Personal Protective Equipment”) during the entire booking session, upon entry into the Host’s home. PPE should NOT be reused for future bookings and discarded after the booking. PPE includes, but not limited to:

      • Face mask (covers both your mouth and nose)

      • Hair/Beard net

      • Gloves 

      • Shoe Covers

    • Leave outerwear at the door

    • Thoroughly wash hands throughout the session. We recommend you wash your hands thoroughly every 30 minutes

    • Wipe down all counters, appliances and faucet handles at the beginning and end of the session – Host to provide cleaning supplies

    • Make NO physical contact with the Host or members of the Host household (eg. hand shakes, hugs, fist bumps)

    • Maintain social distance (minimum of 6 feet) from the Host and household members

  • ​If you feel the Host is not following these guidelines, cancel the booking

*Cooks, consider getting a free COVID-Ready certification from National Domestic Workers Alliance.

Please take personal and community responsibility during this time to protect everyone from exposure to the coronavirus. If we each do our part, we are confident that we can all enjoy delicious, home cooked food in the comfort of our homes.

 

As we care for each other during this time, we strongly encourage you to follow CDC guidelines to protect yourself and the CDC guidelines to clean your home.

 

Recommendation:  Host should not book a Cook, and Cooks should not accept bookings if you or any member of your household is immunocompromised or at high risk for severe illness. Please refer to the CDC for more information.
